THE DEATH OF HECTOR;
In Greek and Roman mythology, and also in Iliad by Homer, Hector is reported to be the Trojan prince and the greatest fighter for Troy in the Trojan War. He was the first-born son of King Priam & was the heir apparent to his father's throne. He was married to Andromache, with whom he had an infant son. He acted as leader of the Trojans and their allies in the defence of Troy. During the European Middle Ages, Hector figures as one of the Nine Worthies known not only for his courage but also for his noble and courtly nature. Indeed, Homer places Hector as peace-loving, thoughtful as well as , a good son, husband and father, and without darker motives. He is accepted as a hero ready to die for the precious imperfections of ordinary life.
During the war, Hector was killed by Achilleus in one-by-one fight as an avenge of the death of Petroklus (Cousin of Achilleus) who has been killed him. The scene of Hector's death was used by many ancient, medieval or modern artists on their works.

Before going to fight with Greek hero Achilles, the prince Hector's farewell to his wife Andromache is one of the most pathetic moments in Iliad and had been inspiration to many artists in their paintings & also the ancient artists of Greek potteries & marble carvers. İn the slideshow below you can see this secene on the works of a couple of artists.
